Before becoming a nurse, Karen earned a degree in legal studies from the University of Maryland—an experience that shaped her analytical thinking and strengthened her ability to advocate effectively for others. Over the past 10 years as a registered nurse, she was consistently drawn to the field of mental health—particularly after witnessing the lack of appropriate care for younger individuals during such a crucial stage in their development. This passion led her to pursue an additional bachelor's degree followed by her MSN with a specialization in psychiatric-mental health.

Now, as a board certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, she brings a unique blend of clinical experience, legal insight, and personal perspective. A highlight of her career has been working with individuals facing major depressive disorder, including treatment-resistant cases, and creating a comprehensive, individualized treatment plan.

Karen is passionate about understanding the underlying causes of mental illness and committed to helping patients achieve meaningful, lasting improvement—not just through medication, but through collaborative, person-centered care. She especially values those moments when the right treatment brings a glimmer of hope, and she truly believes there is always a way forward.
